  • “Privacy” forms a hot topic nowadays, and there is no escaping it for Google either. Consequently, this formed an important part of their Google Marketing Live 2021. As third party cookies are increasingly threatening to disappear, Google is coming up with other user identifiable alternatives. By doing so, they are first and foremost emphasizing the importance of first-party data, which will only gain in relevance over time. Next to this, modelled conversions, automation and machine learning will be used in order to provide privacy-safe measurement. 
  • Thanks to in-depth data analysis, Google will be able to spot new opportunities and trends more effectively in the future. If the system notices an increasing search volume for a specific product, combined with other important indicators, and the expectation is that this trend will only continue to increase, then Google will also report this for the next upcoming 90 days. In this way, these types of trends can be included in strategic campaigns and the opportunities can be fully exploited. 
  • An image or video will always win over a text ad. Google is aware of that too. Consequently, they are now introducing the image extension where you can make your search ads more visual & attractive. A must-have according to us! We already saw strong results and conversions coming from image extensions. 
  • In line with the growing e-commerce market, Google announces a number of new features which will support online retailers & advertisers. 
    • Hours of looking for the best discount code for your purchase? Google is making this a thing of the past. Later this year, they will come up with a Google deals page, which will display all deals per shop. This must be heaven, right? 
    • Augmented reality is a hot topic within the world of marketing. Google will now also put this concept into practice by starting to work with an AR clothing experience. Consumers can try on clothing and makeup within a digital environment. 
    • At The Dot Society, we cannot deny that we are huge Shopify fans. But also Google is part of the fan club. That’s why Shopify users will soon be able to show their products across Google platforms (think of Maps / Youtube / Images / etc.) in just a few clicks. And on top of that, customers will also receive more relevant & direct information concerning the various products. That’s one thing because, on the other hand, Google will also start with the integration of Google Shop Pay, the fastest payment method on the internet, within Shopify. Conversion rates are on average twice as high here compared to a classic payment method.
