When Brand & Performance Work as One: Natan Couture’s 360° Storytelling

Natan Couture is a Belgian fashion house in the luxury segment, founded in 1930 and led since 1983 by Edouard Vermeulen. With elegant couture and ready-to-wear collections, a strong physical store presence, and a position as official supplier to the Belgian Royal Court, Natan grew into an established name within European luxury fashion. Craftsmanship, recognisable and colourful silhouettes, and the world behind the atelier form an essential part of the brand.

The starting point here was a recognisable brand-vs-performance tension. Natan Couture already had a strong brand name, a distinctive identity, and an established position within Belgian luxury fashion, but this brand value was not yet fully translated into digital growth. Paid campaigns delivered a strong platform ROAS, but this metric told only part of the story. The impact on brand awareness, community growth, the e-mail database, store visits, and offline sales remained largely out of view. Brand and performance existed alongside each other, rather than with each other.

The challenge

The challenge was not about optimising a single channel or campaign, but about building one cohesive growth system. The online webshop is the smallest store within the Natan network, with the ambition to grow it into a fully-fledged growth and revenue channel, reaching a new generation of customers, growing internationally, and letting digital efforts better contribute to the physical boutiques and wholesale activities.

To achieve this, editorial storytelling had to do more than create brand desirability. It also had to strengthen paid media, e-mail, online revenue, and the physical boutiques. A recognisable and measurable customer journey, rather than disconnected touchpoints.

Our approach

To break the brand-vs-performance tension, we didn’t start with the individual channels, but with the question of how Natan Couture wanted to grow as a brand. Using our 4-Phase Method (listen, audit, build strategy, execute and optimize), we brought together the digital ambitions, the role of the boutiques, and the full customer journey. The audit showed that there was no shortage of strong content or performing campaigns, but rather a lack of a system connecting all touchpoints.

From these insights, we built our Brand Growth Machine roadmap, in which paid, owned, and earned each received a specific role within the same Natan story:

  1. Community building through owned channels
Organic channels (Instagram & TikTok) tell Natan’s brand story, strengthen brand desirability, and support both online growth and international visibility.
  2. Reaching new audiences and driving online revenue through paid media
Paid campaigns (Meta & Google) accelerate revenue growth, support international expansion, and amplify collection launches.
  3. Turning interest into long-term value through marketing automation
Marketing automation strengthens retention, personalises communication, increases customer lifetime value, and continues to build a long-term brand community.

One team worked across the full funnel, assessing both the creative assets and the data, allowing insights from social, paid, and marketing automation to constantly translate into one another. What organically built brand desirability also strengthened paid and e-mail, and what the data revealed flowed back into the content strategy. This is how we evolved from fragmented communication into a recognisable 360° storytelling approach, expressed differently on each channel, but always true to the brand.

Offline revenue was deliberately factored in: within marketing automation and organic social, the boutiques, events, and physical brand experiences were given a central place in the communication. Through paid, we deployed targeted drive-to-store campaigns to support the boutiques and key commercial moments.

The result

360° storytelling brought paid, social, and e-mail together into one recognisable brand experience. Editorial content deepened the relationship with existing customers, while visual formats on Instagram and TikTok introduced Natan to a new generation, without losing the brand’s DNA.

This cohesion strengthened both brand and performance. Online revenue grew by 16% in 2025 and stands at +36% year-to-date in 2026. At the same time, paid ROAS improved by 34% year-on-year, and cost per new customer dropped by -16%. Growth wasn’t just bigger, it was achieved more efficiently. This growth wasn’t limited to Belgium either: the Netherlands (+39%), France (+31%), and Germany (+71%) also showed strong results in online revenue growth.

The customer relationship also grew stronger. E-mail revenue grew by 105% year-on-year in 2026, and the share of returning customers rose from 44% to 50%, while Instagram engagement rate doubled and more than 20,000 new followers were added. TikTok was also successfully launched as an additional channel to make Natan visible to a new generation. Together, these figures show that editorial content, community building, and marketing automation contributed not only to brand building, but also to acquisition, retention, and customer value.

The real shift, therefore, doesn’t lie in any single ROAS, revenue, or engagement figure. Natan evolved from strong results within individual channels to a more broadly carried growth model: paid reaches new audiences, social builds brand desirability and community, and e-mail turns that attention into repeat purchases and long-term customer value. This growth extended not only to the webshop and international revenue, but also to the audience Natan can now reach on its own.

Before – disconnected, product-focused communication per channel.

After – one cohesive whole in which editorial storytelling connects every channel, while also engaging a younger audience.

Connecting the Dots

Natan Couture had everything in place to grow digitally, except the connection between brand and performance. Together with The Dot Society, we brought paid, owned, and earned together around one recognisable brand story. This is how a collection of strong channels evolved into one connected brand ecosystem, where webshop, community, and customer value strengthen each other.
