Therefore, <\/span><b>include the name of your recipient in the subject lines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of your newsletters. This way, they will feel personally approached by you, which is always beneficial.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you can, send <\/span><b>personalized content to segmented email lists<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. People like to feel that the content is relevant to them. If not, the likeliness of clicking on a button can decrease. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just dig a bit deeper into your data, use this as a starting point for creating segmented audiences, try out some test emails and learn from your results. How can you do this? Give <\/span><b>offers, discounts or early-access<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> only to your subscribers AND make them aware of this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last but not least, the content of your newsletter should be <\/span><b>short &#038; sweet<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Remember that it\u2019s not a blog post and people usually scan your newsletter in a few seconds! If you don\u2019t trigger them in those first few seconds, you lose them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Call-to-action<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just like a caf\u00e9 is nothing without beer, a newsletter is nothing without call-to-actions!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Call to action is a marketing term for any design to prompt an immediate response or encourage an immediate sale, like \u201cSHOP NOW\u201d, \u201cDISCOVER MORE\u201d, \u201cCHECK IT OUT\u201d, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some best practices for the optimal newsletter:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Less is more:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> use around 3 call to action items in your newsletter. If you choose less, click-through-rates will drop because people are not encouraged enough. If you choose more, people will feel overwhelmed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use <\/span><b>buttons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> instead of text call-to-actions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try putting your buttons on the <\/span><b>top of the page<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and as <\/span><b>left<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use <\/span><b>UTM tags<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for data analysis <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Don\u2019t know what this means? Reach out to us and we will guide you through it!)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Basics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>optimal timing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for sending out your newsletters is before and after working hours. In practice this means: <\/span><b>before 6am and after 6pm<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why? People usually go through their personal emails just before work (for example: during breakfast or on their way to work) and after work (for example: during some TV time).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research has shown that the <\/span><b>highest CTRs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are usually on a <\/span><b>Monday and Tuesday<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The worst CTRs have been tracked on a Saturday. If you think about it, this is not so crazy. People are sad for having to go back to work after the weekend and like to treat themselves for a better feeling. On the other hand, on a Saturday you usually have lots of other social plans, which doesn\u2019t involve checking your emails on a regular basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, try sending out some newsletters on a Sunday evening or a Monday morning. And yep, you probably already hear us saying it: test test test! (and most important: learn from your testing!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looking at the frequency of your newsletters, it\u2019s best to send out only <\/span><b>1 per week<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. No more, no less. If you do less, you lose the connection with your fans. If you do more, you will overwhelm them and you might risk a high unsubscribing rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last but not least: never forget to optimize the <\/span><b>mobile version<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of your newsletter!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It goes without saying that people are always on their phone. Think about this when creating your next newsletter.
