MEET LISA

What did you want to be when you grew up?

My original plan was to become a princess, when that didn’t work out I switched between a lot of different careers like a vet or a teacher. In high school I got encouraged to pursue an education with a lot of technological or scientific classes, but I was just there for my friends. Pretty soon I realized I wanted to pursue a creative career. I didn’t know yet what that would look like. My mom always said: “Maybe your dream job doesn’t exist yet.” And it was exactly that. Because as soon as social media and mostly video content emerged, it became clear. During my higher education, I got my bachelors degree in digital marketing at Thomas More in Mechelen and learned all about the creative processes of content creation. After an adventurous internship in Amsterdam I returned to get my masters degree. And now I’m here, ready for a new challenge.

Greatest life lesson someone ever told you?

I don’t remember where I heard this, but someone said that when people say things like: “I would do it if…” “Yes, but…” they put imaginary limits on themselves. If you keep waiting for the right circumstances, nothing ever happens. And if you want to achieve something, you just have to start, you can make it perfect later.

THIS or THAT?

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Most of my time goes to my art. I love working with oil pastels, but I can also enjoy making digital art from time to time. I have recently started a junk journal, it’s the perfect creative outlet. I can disappear for hours in my room and lose myself in the creative process. I will also never say no to a drink with my friends. I love going to festivals and I always have a trip planned.

Ultimate feel-good song?

That’s a tough one, my music taste is very broad. From rock to pink pilates princess pop (Spotify’s words not mine) it really depends on the mood. Some of my favorite artists are: Tame Impala, The Arctic Monkeys, Sabrina Carpenter, ABBA and Empire of the Sun. If I really have to pick a song it would probably be one by ABBA. Their music instantly transports me to a sunny beach in Greece.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?

My favorite way to unwind after a busy day or busy week would probably be a girls night with my friends. This is an (almost) weekly tradition that we started during the pandemic when we could only meet outside. Good or bad weather, you can find us outside on the terrace of one of my friends with a snack and a drink. I don’t know what I would do without it.
